Sugar trade looks to the home market

The Distillary st Vaidyanath SSK, Pangri has ushered in the era of Smart Distillary in the world. The plant which has been inspired by Praj, will run on molasses as well as Secondary Cane Juice. The Smart aspect of the distillary lies in its ability to switch over from one raw material to another at the flick of the knob to produce a wide spectrum of Rectified Spirit (RS), Export Quality Rectified Spirit (EQRS), Extra Neutral Alchohol (ENA) and Fuel Ethanol. The concept of blending two or more feed stock for production of alchohol streams from the fact that Distillaries would like to operate round the year instead of 6 months/year, as in case of India. At the same time the intention is to minimise the effluent levels so as to use the available facilities. It is also desirable not to depend on external/bought out sources of raw materials. Also the return on investments is far more attractive as compared to distillaries operating during half the year. Vaidyanath SSK had spelt out this requirment and Praj designed a plant, which would run on captive foodstock. The plant runs on: HIFERM GR Technology (30,000 litres per day) ECOMOL Molecular Sieve Plant for production of 45,000 litres per day Fel Ethanol. Plant highlights are:

    1. Use of secondary juice as well as cane molasses feedstock
    2. Ease of switching from one raw material to another
    3. Multiple grades of alcohol from the same plant: RS, EQRS, ENA
    4. Reduction in process water consumption
    5. Energy saving due to multipressure system
    6. consistency in product quality
    7. Fully automated multipressure distillation & fuel ethanol plant
    8. Common effluent treatment plant
    9. Reduction in effluent volume

Secondary juice is a stream for alcohol production. Because it has a very low concentration of baggable sugar in it & lot of non-sugar solids in it, it does not produce very high quality of sugar. Secondary juice being a dilute stream of sugar, also consumes high quantity of steam for its evaporation. However the non sugar solids in Secondary juice do not cause any problem for fermentation and thus can be very easily taken for fermentation. On the contrary it has a very high Fermentable: Non Fermentable ratio, which is good for fermentation as compared to that of molasses.
